Fear. It’s everywhere. Fear is a mechanism that has evolved as a survival technique. Fight, flight or freeze is our fear response. It activates the sympathetic nervous system.
While fear is useful when we are encountered with danger, it doesn’t benefit us to stay in the sympathetic nervous system daily.
So, how do we overcome fear?
The truth is, I think it’s most effective to do what you are afraid of.within reason. For example, if you’re afraid of heights, try climbing a ladder or sitting on a high surface. Sit with your fear. Be in the moment and notice what fear feels like.
Once you are aware of how fear feels, you’ll be able to identify it happening in your daily life and change your response.
You can overcome fear in your life and start feeling more free. Awareness is key. The first step is admitting that you are afraid.
