Recovery Updates

Being 25 and going to rehab is like going to jail. People stare as I enter the room and ask”what’re you in for?” The worst part is when they say “you’re too young for this!” Yes, thank you captain obvious!

My first week at the new rehab went extremely well! I’m so excited to see faster improvements. It seems like I will be working harder there because I’m there for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. Everyone is so nice and I feel like I definitely made the right choice.

Being on a strict schedule is really good for me, so I’m actually feeling really great with less fatigue.

As far actual recovery, I’m finding new and different ways to cope. I’m so thankful for my friends that are actually willing so take me places in my wheelchair (which is hard). The healing methods that I’ve found helpful are:

1. Meditation and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep)

2. studies of diet and exercise – I’m finding huge benefits in a ketogenic diet. When I can eat normally again, I plan on testing it. Dr. Terry Wahls talks about using a Paleo diet to cure MS.

3. Spending time with people I love. People have been so kind to visit me and I feel lucky that I still have friends. It’s surprising to me that my extrovert side has come out lately. Might have something to do with the brain changes. 😝

4. Sleep. It’s super important for the brain to sleep! I’ve been trying extra hard to get to bed on time. I usually go to bed around 9 and wake up around 6.
